Double appointment for BCN leadership team

Programmatic staffing: the creative professional Michael Samak and the digital savvy Stefan Zarnic take over the management of the Burda marketer on 1 January 2016.
 
 
Philipp Welte sets the course for the future of BCN with a programmatic staffing: starting with 1 January 2016 Michael Samak (46) and Stefan Zarnic (46) take over the management of Burda’s central advertising sales unit. Burda follows thus a clear strategic direction: Samak is an acknowledged expert in the creative advertising industry and before joining Burda in 2014 he was CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Germany and Switzerland. Stefan Zarnic has a long expertise in digital marketing and came to Burda from Interactive Media at the beginning of 2015. Philipp Welte, who took over the interim management of BCN after Andreas Schilling left the company in October 2015, is taking into account two central tendencies triggered by the current changes on the advertising market: “Clients and agencies put a lot of effort into finding both individual and holistic communication solutions that transcend technological limitations. Our double leadership team embodies both assets: Stefan Zarnic brings a high digital literacy, Michael Samak is the creative mind in this team.”
 
Michael Samak worked for the international advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi for 17 years before joining Burda. As CEO - his last position there before the change - he was responsible for the entire business in Germany and Switzerland. With Stefan Zarnic BCN hired an expert with sixteen years of experience in digital marketing. He came from Interactive Media where he was responsible as Vice President for the publisher management and where he built up the programmatic buying. In the German Federal Association of Digital Economy he leads the focus group programmatic advertising.
