Burda International Invests in the Polish Fashion Start-Up SHOWROOM

Burda International is purchasing 25 percent of the shares in the Polish start-up company SHOWROOM. Showroom is an e-commerce platform for young Polish designers and is currently being used for the presentation and sale of the  collections of over  400  up-and-coming  designers. SHOWROOM was established at the beginning of 2012  with  help from the Polish fund VC HardGamma Ventures. Plans are in place to also gradually launch the Showroom platform in other countries.

Burda International is the umbrella organisation responsible for the international activities of  the media company Hubert Burda Media. The organisation works in cooperation with its publishing partners to publish 229 magazines outside of Germany and has increased its investment  in  the  development  of  its  digital business in recent years. The main focus of these development activities is placed on  the growing markets of Eastern Europe and Asia.  According to Fabrizio D'Angelo, the Managing Director of Burda International: "Showroom  has so far produced  an exciting concept and shown impressive developments. We have identified great potential for the field of e-commerce in the fashion segment. Where this field is concerned, Burda International has acquired excellent expertise, for example with its international brands 'burda style', 'ELLE', INSTYLE' and 'Prestige', and uses these brands to  achieve high coverage among target audiences of individuals interested in fashion. Burda  International has therefore created an outstanding foundation for its strategic partnership with Showroom."
When commenting on this partnership, Michal Juda and Jasiek Stasz, the founders of SHOWROOM, declared that: "We believe in Polish fashion. We want to use the investment by  Burda International and the great expertise of our new partner to also enable our designers to adress new customers beyond the Polish borders."
